Signed oval shaped drypoint etching with aquatint, and small detail coloured by hand. 'Élégantes au lézard'. Circa 1926, Paris. The etching depicts two women on a terrace watching a small lizard, and playing with it with a stick. The work is signed in pencil by Jean Hardy on the bottom, lower right. Numbered in pencil # 84 of 350. In an oval art déco style dark wooden frame. Print is apparently in excellent condition, but has not been removed from its wooden frame. The frame in very good condition, with some minor scratches. Actual image size: 44 x 53 cm.
This is a fantastic example of the Années folles (France in the 1920's) passion for what was known as 'Boudoir Art'. Louis Icart and Jean Hardy were two of the most popular.
