Original etching on thick laid paper. Circa 1885. Signed in the plate. Unframed. Nice deep impression. From Slocombe’s "Views on the Thames"series. This is plate No. 3, a view from what is now known as Cliveden, near Taplow in Berkshire.
Frederick Slocombe was a British artist, who painted landscapes and coastal scenes, but is better known for his work as an etcher. His landscapes convey the characteristic serene atmosphere of the English countryside.
Has two eye holes in the outer margin at the top - assume where once displayed in a book / file.
